Pocket RAMM Won’t Sync After Installation

I’ve just installed Pocket RAMM and I can’t synchronise. What can I do?

Step One: Check the Logs

If you are unable to synchronise once you have installed Pocket RAMM, it is likely that you have not been set up on your device with sufficient permissions. You check this by looking at the error logs. These are found at the menu path:

If you find an error message similar to the following, this means that you have insufficient permissions to synchronise.

“09:16:11 Error Access to the path ‘C:\ProgramData\CJN Technologies\Pocket Manager 6.1\UserData\CoreData\pocketmanager.sdf’ is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)\r\n at System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite, Boolean checkHost)\r\n at PocketManagerBase.SystemDatabase.CloseAndRestoreSystemDBFromBackup() in e:\Data\RammBuilder\Applications\WinForms\PocketManager\PocketManagerBase\SystemDatabase.cs:line 192”

The clue is the section of the error message which states “Access to the path ‘C:\ProgramData\CJN Technologies\Pocket Manager 6.1\UserData\CoreData\pocketmanager.sdf’ is denied.”. This states that the user has inadequate permissions to access pocketmanager.sdf.

Step Two: Navigate to the Security Options

Please note that to perform the relevant tasks to fix the issue, you need to be logged into your device as an Administrator. Follow the menu path:

Highlight the folder CJN Technologies. Right-click and follow the menu path:

Properties > Security

Step Three: Grant All Users Full Control

Highlight the Users Group and press Edit.

Select the Full Control option and press Apply.

Step Four: Reboot

Save your way out of all the dialogs and reboot your device. You should then be able to synchronise.
